Here for sale is this exquisite Hutschenreuther herding dog figurine of a Roughhaired Collie Lassie - handmade and handpainted fired porcelain in excellent condition. Produced from the highly regarded german manufactury Hutschenreuther today a part of Rosenthal, Selb, Bavaria Germany. This huge figurine is extremely RARE to find in this size of 11 inches. Designed by Hans Achtziger H.

ACHTZIGER is impressed under the pedestal, one of the most famous Hutschenreuther sculptors for animal figurines. This figure has a hallmark used about 1970. The figurine is about 45 years old and is in excellent condition without any chips, cracks, flaws or repairs (only an unglazed area at the left side of the belly from the pontil during burning). Tremendous Figure, outstanding details, very lifelike figurine. 25 inches wide, 8.10 inches tall - 28,5 x 20,5 cm.

Hans Achtziger (1918 2003) was a member of the German "Werkbund" und one of the most influential porcelain modellers in the 20th century. He created dinner services and a large number of exceptional animal sculptures for the brand Hutschenreuther which was acquired by Rosenthal in 2000. No chips, no cracks, no flaws, no repair.

S - unglazed and retouched area at the belly before the left hind leg from the manufactory process (where the pontil was holding the figurine during burning) - see photos. The figurine is even more beautiful as the photos can express it! Thank you for you time! Wundervolle Arbeit des Bildhauers Hans Achtziger. Dieser Collie in naturalistischer Bemalung ist nur sehr selten zu finden. Im Sockel bezeichnet mit grüner Stempelmarke aus der Zeit vor 1970.

1934-37 Modelleurlehrling in der Porzellanfabrik Lorenz Hutschenreuther AG, Selb. 1937-39 Studium an der Staatlichen Fachschule für Porzellan-Industrie, Selb (heute: Johann-Friedrich-Böttger-Institut) unter Prof. Hans Panzer in der Bildhauerklasse der Meisterschule für Bau- und Kunsthandwerker, München. Ab 1948 erneut Tätigkeit in der Porzellanfabrik Lorenz Hutschenreuther, ab 1961 deren Leiter der Kunstabteilung, ab 1965 zusätzlich Leiter des zentralen Ateliers für Formengestaltung, 1970-81 Direktor derselben.

Für die in 2000 durch Rosenthal erworbene Marke Hutschenreuther schuf er 35 Service-Formen und etwa 150 herausragende Tierplastiken, u. "Übermut (2 Apfelschimmel)", "Windhundgruppe (Whippet)", "Abstreichende Schwäne" und "Auffliegender Reiher". Studienreisen nach Frankreich, Italien, Schweden, Finnland, Dänemark , England, Holland, Belgien, Irland, Portugal und Persien. 1959 Goldmedaille für Astral-Porzellan der California State Fair, Sacramento / USA. 1969 Auszeichnung "Gulden Form", Utrecht / Niederlande.

1977 Verdienstmedaille der Stadt Selb. 1984 Kulturpreis der oberfränkischen Wirtschaft der Industrie- und Handelskammer für Oberfranken Bayreuth. Zahlreiche Arbeiten von ihm befinden sich im öffentlichen Raum und Besitz.

Literatur: Vollmer, Band I (A-D). 5 cm breit und 20,5 cm hoch. Unglasierter Bereich an der Bauchseite vor dem linken HInterlauf von der Brandstütze während des Brennvorganges.
