Large Art Deco French Sculpture Fontinelle Nude 1920s Ceramic Statue Modernist

  
SUPERB ART DECO CERAMIC SCULPTURE. By Louis Fontinelle circa 1930.

Large, beautifully designed statue of a stylized dancing nude surrounded by geometric flowing lines. Executed in a beautiful, light blue/green glazed ceramic with a satin lustre. Its cubistic, three dimensional styling conveys the sensation of a figure in motion. This is a very rare and sought after design, especially in this color. The first 5 photos portray the actual color fairly accurately, however hues may appear differently on your screen.

If the exact color is of tremendous importance please contact me and I will try to clarify further. In excellent vintage condition with no cracks or damage with the exception of one small (1/4) chip on the back right corner of the base -- this is not visible when statue is viewed from the front. It also has 2 small spots of color loss (on her right thigh and at the very top of sculpture) as well as along much of the bottom 1/8 of the base.

Lastly, there is a hole or void on the underside of the base which can only be seen when sculpture is turned upside down and poses no structural issue. Imperfections like these ocurred during the firing process and are present on virtually all "craquelles". This sculpture is included as an example of Fontinelle's work in the book Les Sculptures Belge en Ceramique -- Expo Art Deco , a pictorial catalog of a 2003 expostion of Art Deco ceramics. I'm very particular about condition and the above issues don't bother me, but I believe in full disclosure so you may make an informed decision and not be unhappily surpised. Measurements: 15 7/8" (40 cm) tall x 10" (25.6 cm) wide x 3 3/8 (8.7cm) deep. I will also gladly use your choice of shipper and class of service at actual cost.
