Porcelain Art Deco Hostess Sandwich Toaster, 5 inches high, 5 ½ x 6 inches base, plus 3 inch wood, marked on front Hostess, Sandwich Toaster, Volts 110, Watts 400, All Rite Co. Probably 1920s, chip to front right foot, ¼ inch line or shrinkage damage to porcelain on curve of front edge under gold label, no electric cord, soiling to aluminum plates, aluminum grill top with square porcelain cover, bottom aluminum grill with footed porcelain base with opening for electric cord, coiled wire on back connects top and bottom heating elements, another metal plate inside the bottom, Art Deco design of green glaze with black outline on top and bottom porcelain with marbleized multicolored glaze in between, label is done in gold leaf lettering, handle is painted black, a lovely early appliance that was meant to be used on the buffet table, very colorful and decorative as well as functional as proved by the evidence of use, metal slides adjust for different sandwich thicknesses, not something I would recommend actually using as the wiring looks a little sketchy, a great addition to a toaster collection.
