Pair of 1920's-1930's Pass & Seymour White Porcelain Bath Sconces & Shades, new wiring. This white porcelain bath sconce was manufactured by Pass & Seymour In Syracuse, NY during the 1920's or 1930's as part of their Alabax line of porcelain lighting.
It is art deco in style and is in very good condition with no chips or repairs. The pull chain switches works perfectly... We disassembled them, cleaned them, polished & lubed the contacts, and they work like new ones. We have removed the paint splatters from the sides and it is ready to install on your bathroom wall.
The nickel plated chains with their white celluloid connectors are original to the fixtures. It is uncommon to find these with the old celluloid connectors. The light portion came with the old cloth covered wire, so we rewired it. The 2-prong plug had been previously rewired, so we left it alone. We usually do not bother to connect them because most were un-polarized and no one uses them anyway.
The opal glass shades are in very good condition, though they have some small chips along the bottom rim, but they are minor and don't detract from the appearance. The fixture has been tested, works correctly, and is guaranteed to be as described. Though the pull chain switch works perfectly, we recommend that a wall switch be the primary on/off mechanism. This type of switch is no longer made and if it breaks, you have to salvage the parts from another one to repair it (or bypass it). This one might last another 30 or 40 years, who knows, but the wall switch is the better option.
Dimensions: porcelain base is 5" in diameter and 3" long; shade is 5-1/2" long & 4-1/4" wide. With the shade in place, the fixture projects 8 from the wall.
It uses standard base bulbs (not included). All mounting hardware (crossbars and screws) is included in sale. Also, we have a lot of other porcelain fixtures for sale, so please check out our lighting store.
