Just two words that come to mind while contemplating this gorgeous and rarely seen example of early Royal Dux at its finest. It features a lovely semi nude woman with a serene expression, a very long and lithe figure, standing in full Art Deco pose as she sports a gorgeous peacock feather train.
She wears a matching belt and headpiece, and also matching high heeled pumps. Great combination of glazed and unglazed porcelain, and very high quality modeling and molding throughout. The best of the best not only among Royal Dux pieces, but of high end period Art Deco as well.Made by Royal Dux in what was then known as Czechoslovakia, in the 1920s or 1930s. She measures just under 11.5 inches high. In very good condition, having only a short hairline toward the back of the piece, at the base on her right hand side. Pictured in image number eleven. It is short, tight, and appears old and stable. In fact, I suspect it may not be damage but actually a stress fracture from the making, that unfortunately made its way from the bottom base rim of the piece to the top. I say this because I see other much shorter but similar stress fractures around the same area this longer one is located. They can be seen in image number twelve (of the bottom of the piece). However, I cannot be 100% certain that this hairline was made in the making. I'm just trying to disclose this to the best of my ability, and it's not easy to describe. Given the beauty and rarity of this piece, it is easily forgivable, and in reality is barely even noticeable. An excellent choice to add to the most discerning collections!
