Art Deco Carlton Ware Lustre Bowl Scarce Ruby Red Heron and Magical Tree pattern
A beautiful fruit bowl by Carlton Ware of England, decorated with a stunning and much sought after design by Irene Pemberton which was introduced in the late 1930's; the'Heron and Magical Tree' in shades of green/blue and gold against a deep ruby red background with orange, pink and green fruits/blossoms on the trees. The heron is pictured in flight and has yellow, orange and lavender feathers. The exterior of the bowl has a gilded pattern around the rim, and the entire piece is finished with a gleaming lustre glaze. Underneath, the marks identify a hand painted order number? 11/ shape number 7224, design number 419 (Ruby Lustre). A very attractive object in great condition. I have done my best to show the bowl as it is, but the lustre glaze is so shiny that it's difficult to get a good image, (hence the sideways image). 20 cm Diameter, 9 cm High.
