This rare collectible art deco signed Rosenthal sculpture of a Blackamoor waiter carrying a platter of fruit is from their Pastell Series. He is beautifully hand-painted in pastel colours of orange, yellow and blue on a bronze coloured base. There is no glaze on this porcelain sculpture, just a clean bisque finish.
It was created by the renowned sculptor Hugo Meisel in 1931. This piece was signed by Meisel himself and dated 1931. On the bottom of the base there is the Rosenthal factory stamp of the 1930s within a raised floral cartouche, the impressed sculptors name of H. Meisel above, the model number 863, and to the right another mark in tan lettering which reads; Dekoration Entwurf, Otto Koch, Handgemalt and J.Measurements: 7 inches tall, 4 inches long, and 2.25 inches wide.
