Art Deco Werner/ Hutschenreuther Porcelain Nude Figurine Girl Balancing Ball

  

Thanks to Carl Werner and Karl Tutter, Hutschenreuther produced some of the most desirable Art Deco figurines made in Germany. These two artists were largely responsible for Hutschenreuther's success in the 1920s and 1930s. The figures he designed of female athletes balancing golden balls were very popular during the Berlin Olympic Games in 1936. Hutschenreuther in Selb, Germany est.

1917 produced Werner's figures in white with gold accents and, as here, hand painted with gold accents. Today, it's those delicately painted figurines that are most highly prized.

This piece is signed under the base with the green Hutschenreuther Selb LHS Germany Kunstabteilung (art division) mark along with the small, handwritten number in black of the artist who painted it. This is in fine condition, with no damage or restorations.

It's sublimely graceful and among the hardest of Werner's figures to find. Approximately 8.25" high, 6.5" wide and 3 deep.
