For sale is this very rare Vintage German Oval Tray. This beautiful large Art Deco porcelain serving tray by Carl Deffner has a pierced metal trim made of high quality nickel chromium (stainless steel). Determine what the metal is to the best of my ability.

There is no corrosion and a magnet does not stick to it. This tray rests on 4 ball feet. Blue and white porcelain has some light crazing. Metal is in excellent condition with 4 micro dents on side and a few very small rub areas. 18 ¾ long with handles.

Carl Deffner's mark,'CDE' in a shield with crossed lances is on the underside of one of the handles. I have taken a look at some of the other pieces of Carl Deffner online. His artistry and metal works are stunning. The Deffner firm was established in Esslingen in 1815 by Carl Christian Ulrich Deffner and existed through several generations of the family until 1969. Around the period before WWI the company was a very large concern employing around 500 people.
