Cowan Pottery Art Deco Flamingo Sculpture Figurine Waylande Gregory American
This amazing 11.5 t. Sculpture of Flamingo was designed by Waylande Gregory for Cowan (1930). The glaze was called Oriental Red at the factory, and this example is crystalline and especially colorful, with mixed shades of bright orange, chocolate brown, and gold. Some examples of this form were functional, serving as a large flower frog. However, this piece is strictly decorative, a gorgeous artwork that stands on its own merits.
If marked, the mark(s) would be buried in the glaze. No nicks, chips, hairlines, or repairs. As a member of the American Art Pottery Association (AAPA), I guarantee my merchandise to be as described.
