French Sevres ART DECO Presentation Vase Blue Lapis glaze & Gilding Sea Stars by. Large Sevres (Pate Dure Nouvelle) porcelain presentation vase in the purest ART DECO Style, deep blue lapis with gold gilt stylized Stars. Stamped at the bottom with the DA 1926 Sevres factory marks. Georges Lechevallier-Chevignard was the director of the Sèvres porcelain manufactory from 1920 until 1938.
The blue lapis glaze vase with gold-colored motif of a stylized flower was created in 1926, just after the manufactory had participated in the international applied arts exhibition in 1925. The participation has aroused a general stylistic modernization of the Sèvres style that began detaching from Art Nouveau.
The present vase is made of pâte dure nouvelle, a porcelain paste developed by former director of the manufactory, Charles Lauth, and the chemist Georges Vogt, allowing the manufactory to burn porcelain for the first time at a lower temperature. We try to present the merchandise as accurately as possible.
