A Meissen group of Columbine and Harlequin from the ballet'Carnaval' produced by Sergei Diaghilev and performed by the Ballets Russes to the music of Robert Schumann's piano suite. This beautiful Meissen Art Deco figural group features Harlequin and Columbine, designed and modeled by Scheurich in Germany around 1920. This rare and very intricate porcelain work of art is sure to catch the eye of any antique collector.
The style of this piece is Art Deco, with a focus on bold geometric shapes and a whimsical design. Underglaze blue crossed swords, incised model number D 287, impressed assembler's number 34, and painter's mark 67 painted in. 11" high x 9" x 5. Remarkably good condition with only very minor fritting on edge of dress as shown.
In addition, there may be very minor expected manufacturing flaws as well.
