ROBJ Paris France Art Deco 1926 Soldier with Drum L'encrier signed Rare, Pristine

  

Robj Paris France Art Deco 20's Uncommon Soldier with Drum inkwell, signed. Had been unable to find this exact one in any literature-until someone listed this advertisement on which shows it!! He is a stout soldier with a medium blue long coat, white pants, black shoes. The coat has a white diagonal sash with a gold blue oval on the chest.

His bi-pointed hat has a white diagonal stripe and white stripe on the top. He has a huge mustache, darker shaded nose, (black spot on nose is part of glaze), horizontal lines for eyes. The drum is banded with gold, has gold glazed "X"s around it, and the top is white with a 3/4 round diameter indentation, could fit a candle? The translation says it is actually for ink-there are no signs that it was ever used as such, no stains.

The hands/fists have little indents in them, but they don't look functional for anything. He is about 8" high by 4" wide by 4.5 deep. No cracks, crazing or chips, in very pristine condition!
