VINTAGE Art Nouveau LARGE 22 ROYAL DUX FLETCHER BATHER Woman PORCELAIN FIGURE. This listing is for an authentic large figurine of woman bather drying herself off. Original by Royal Dux, it is a beautifully and tastefully modeled and hand painting is exquisite, especially capturing the flesh tones. Is in excellent condition, INSPECTED UNDER BLACK LIGHT, THERE ARE NOT CRACKS, CRAZING OR REPAIRS.

TO BE ACCURATE THERE IS A TINY spec above the right knee as shown in the pictures and the knee has some discoloration. Possibly due to being exposed to the environment for so many years, visible in pictures.

It has been time in storage and may be some SUPERFICIALLY DUSTY. IT IS STAMPED ON THE BOTTOM WITH THE ANTIQUE UNGLAZED Royal Dux. MARK as well as the green circular mark. The pink triangle has the impressed letter "E" which stands for Eichler, the company founders surname. The "E" represents the earliest mark and dates the piece between 1860 and 1918. THERE ARE ALSO IMPRESSED NUMBERS, 1360 AND 10, as well a label reading Fletcher Auctions. 22" tall 12" x 10, rectangular base measures 8 in x 9 in. It is heavy and substantial piece weighing about 15 lbs in the store's scale. Royal Dux is a porcelain company based in the Czech Republic that manufactures figurines and ceramics in Neoclassical and Art Nouveau styles. A member of the Czech Porcelain Group, it has produced its brand of figural and decorative porcelain works since 1853.

Model expert Eduard Eichler started the company in Duchov, Bohemia in 1860 and ran it until his death in 1887, recreating historical designs. At the start of the 20th century, the company enjoyed remarkable success thanks to the works.

The company enjoyed a renaissance in 1958 through the display of Jaroslav Jezek's collection at the world exhibition in Brussels that year. Please see the pictures for details. They are enlarged to show details.
