Decorated Rookwood Glossy Butterfat Glaze Vase Description and Item Information Up for sale is this vintage Rookwood art pottery vase which was decorated by artist Elizabeth Barrett Please excuse the glare in the photos. This high glazed vase has decoration which includes two deer, two trees, and a large flower. The decoration is in gray and white and the background is mottled gray and blue.
The interior and base are glazed white. The vase is approximately 8 3/16 inches tall; it has a maximum diameter of about 4 1/4 inches. Unpacked, it weighs 1 pound 9.4 ounces. It would be a beautiful addition to a collection of American art pottery.
Identification The vase is marked beneath with the Rookwood RP monogram and flame point mark and "XLIII" which indicates a date of 1943. The shape number is 614E.The cipher mark for artist Elizabeth Barrett is incised beneath. Condition The vase looks great overall, with no chips, cracks, or crazing. It has very light wear (some very fine scratches beneath). As made, there are variations in glazing and there are thick glaze drips at the rim.
