Vintage Pair of Greyhound Whippet Dog Bookends Ceramic Art Deco Hand Painted

  
This is an elegant pair of vintage Art Deco Style Greyhound Whippet Dog Bookends in excellent condition. The ceramic porcelain Greyhound dog figurines with base are 8.5 tall, white, with hand painted details in gold and black. The two Greyhounds figurines are seated on a 4.5 x 3.5 rectangular ceramic base with a cobblestone pattern on top.

The ceramic base is hand painted gold on the top and has a unique broad red band painted around it. These two ceramic Greyhound Dog Bookends are hollow inside and have plastic stoppers, or plugs, in their bases. The figurines are designed to be filled with sand to give them enough weight to support books upright. The underside of these bases apparently were once covered with black felt now removed.

Consequently, there are no labels identifying the original brand or origin of these items. However, this pair of Greyhound Dog Bookends is identical in every significant way to a few other sets found on the web most of which are labeled Andrea by Sadek. Bookends with these labels were made in Asia i. Japan, Thailand during the 1970s and are very collectible. All of our items are.
