This extraordinary finely hand painted figurine of a female runner with Saluki dog belongs to a series of sporting motifs. By Gustav Oppel in 1936 for the Berlin Olympics (Niecol catalog vol 3 p 79 figurine 1607). 11.5 inches (29 cm) at the highest point x 10 3/4 inches (27 cm) long of the dog paw to tail. Base is 7 inches (18 cm) x 4 ½ inches (12 cm) wide.

Signed GO on top of base at the right side of the rear foot of the runner. Marked on base with the Rosenthal factory mark Kunstabteilung Selb has incised the number 1607.

This magnificent work of art is in excellent vintage condition; no damage or repairs. Please see the photos as they are the best description.
